Who can use SET
SET is for adult learners (18+) and senior secondary students (15+ with guardian consent). If you're younger than 18, you need a guardian to register on your behalf and accept these terms.
What SET promises you
- Lessons delivered as described in the course catalogue.
- Marking on submissions within 5 working days (usually 48 hours).
- At least one live class per week per active course (recorded if you can't attend).
- Teacher response to messages within 24 hours during weekdays.
- A certificate of completion when you pass the final assessment.
Accreditation status (honest)
SET is currently pursuing registration with the Samoa Qualifications Authority (SQA). Until that registration is granted, SET certificates are preparatory: they show you have completed the course content, but they are not yet nationally recognised qualifications under the Samoan or Australian qualifications frameworks.
Many employers and migration pathways (including PALM employers we work with) accept SET certificates as evidence of study, but we cannot and will not claim a certificate is more than it is.
What you promise SET
- To do your own work, and to declare AI use when applicable.
- Not to share your account credentials with anyone else (including family — if your aiga relative wants to support you, they sign up as a sponsor account).
- Not to copy or redistribute SET course content (it's copyright SET, all rights reserved).
- To treat teachers and other students with respect.
Payments and refunds
If your course has a fee, payment terms appear on the course enrolment page. SET refund policy:
- Full refund if you cancel before the course start date.
- Pro-rata refund if you cancel within the first two weeks (calculated on lessons not yet released).
- No refund after the first two weeks, except in documented hardship cases reviewed by SET admin.
Cancellation by SET
We may suspend or cancel your account if you breach these terms (cheating, abuse, fraud). In serious cases without prior warning; in less serious cases with a written warning first. If we cancel without cause, we refund any unused course fees.
Liability
SET's liability to you is limited to refunding what you paid for the affected course. SET is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. missing a job opportunity because a certificate wasn't delivered on time). This doesn't exclude any rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Disputes are heard in NSW courts unless both sides agree to mediation first (which we always prefer).
Changes to these terms
Material changes will be emailed to you with 30 days' notice. Continued use of SET after that period means you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel and request a pro-rata refund.
Demo terms — must be reviewed by an Australian education-sector lawyer before public launch. Don't rely on this for legal advice.
